Why We Should Pray
1 Is any among you afflicted? Let them pray.
Is anyone happy? Let them sing psalms. Is
anyone sick among you? Let them call for the
elders of the church; and let the elders pray
over them, anointing them with oil in the name
of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save
the sick, and the Lord shall raise them up; and if
they have committed sins, they shall be
forgiven them. Confess your faults to another,
and pray one for another, that you may be
healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man avails much.
2 Likewise, the Spirit also helps our infirmities:
for we know not what we should pray for as we
ought: but the Spirit makes intercession for us
with groaning which cannot be uttered. And he
that searches the hearts knows the mind of the
Spirit, because he makes intercession for the
saints according to the will of God. And we
know all things work together for good
to those who love God and are the called
according to his purpose.
