teach, patient, in meekness instructing those
that oppose themselves; if God peradventure
will give repentance to them by acknowledging
the truth; and that they may recover
themselves out of the snare of the devil, who
are taken captive by him at his will.
3 Avoid foolish questions, genealogies,
contentions, and strivings about the law, for
they are unprofitable and vain. Reject a man
that is a heretic after the first and second
admonition, knowing that such is subverted
and sin, being condemned of himself. 4 Do all
things without murmurings and disputing: that
you may be blameless and harmless, the sons
of God, without rebuke, amid a crooked and
perverse nation, among whom you shine as
lights in the world; holding forth the word of
life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I
have not run in vain, or labored in vain.
5 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write to
you of our common salvation, I needed to write
unto you and exhort you that you should
instead earnestly contend for the faith that
was once delivered unto the saints. For there
