But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless
them that curse you, do good to them that
hate you, and pray for them which despitefully
use you, and persecute you; that you may
be the children of your Father which is in
heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the
evil and good, and sends rain on the just and on
the unjust. For if you love them who love you,
what reward do you have? Do not even the
publicans the same? And if you salute your
brethren only, what do you more than others?
Do not even the publicans so? Be therefore
perfect, even as your Father, which is in
heaven, is perfect.
2 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful
works of darkness, but rather reprove them, for
it is a shame to even speak of the things they
do in secret. But all things that are reproved are
made manifest by the light: for whatever brings
things into the light is light. Wherefore he says,
Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give you light. See then that you
walk uprightly, not as fools, but as wise, making
the best of the time because the days are evil.
