Love
1 Let everything be done in love; 2 for love is of
God, and everyone who loves is born of God
and knows God. He who loves not, knows not
God, for God is love. There is no fear in love,
but perfect love casts out fear because fear has
torment. He who fears is not perfect in love.
We love, because he first loved us. If a man
says, I love God and hate his brother, he is a
liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he
has seen, how can he love God whom he has
not seen? And these commandments have we
from him, that he who loves God loves his
brother also.
3 Jesus said: You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, and with all your soul, and
with all your mind. This is the first and greatest
commandment. The second is like it: You shall
love your neighbor as yourself. On these two
commandments are all the law and prophets.
4 Love suffers long, and is kind; love envies not;
love boasts not itself, and is not puffed up, does
not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own,
