Faith
1 What does it profit if one says he has faith and
has not works? Can faith save him? If a brother

or sister be naked and destitute of daily food,
and one of you say to them, Depart in peace,
be warmed and filled; and you don’t give them
those things which are needful to the body;
what does it profit? Even so, faith, if it has

not works it is dead, being alone. Yes, a man
may say, you have faith, and I have works:
show me your faith without works, and I will
show you my faith by my works.

If you believe that there is one God, you do
well: the devils also believe and tremble.
But you know that faith without works is dead.
2 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing

by the word of God. 3 Your faith should not
stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of
God. 4 Scripture has concluded we are all under
sin, so the promise by faith of Jesus Christ
might be given to all those who believe.

But before faith came, we were kept under the
law, closed to the faith which should afterward
