9 When they came to Jesus and saw that he was
already dead, they did not break his legs, but
one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his
side, and forthwith came there out blood and
water. 10 And he that saw it bare record and his
record is true: and he knows what he says is
true, that you might believe. For these things

were done, that the scripture should be
fulfilled, a bone of him shall not be broken. And
again another scripture said, They shall look on
him whom they pierced.

10 Jesus said: I am the true vine, and my Father
is the husbandman. Every branch in me that
bears no fruit he takes away: and every branch

that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring
forth more fruit. Now you are clean through
the word which I have spoken unto you.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot
bear fruit of itself, except it abides in the vine;
and neither can you, unless you abide in me.

I am the vine; you are the branches: He

that abides in me, and I in him, the same

brings forth much fruit: for without me you
