For such a high priest became us, who is holy,
harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and
made higher than the heavens; Who needs not
daily, as those high priests, to offer sacrifice,
first for his own sins, and then for the people's:
for this, he did once, when he offered
himself. For the law makes men high priests
who have infirmity; but the word of the oath,
which was since the law, makes the Son, who is
consecrated for evermore.
16 He said: I come to do your will, O God. He
takes away the first so that he may establish
the second. By which we are sanctified through
the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for
all. As every priest stands daily ministering and
offering often the same sacrifices, which can
never take away sins, this man, after offering
one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the
right hand of God from here on expecting until
his enemies be made his footstool. For by one
offering, he has perfected forever
them that are sanctified. (And their sins
and iniquities will I remember no more.)
