5 I write these things to you, so that you do not
sin. And if anyone sins, we do have an advocate
with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: he is
the offering for our sins: and not for ours only,
but also for the sins of the whole world. 6 If we

say that we have fellowship with him,
and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not

practice the truth: but if we walk in the light,
as he is in the light, we have fellowship one
with another and the blood of Jesus Christ

cleanses us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive
ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we

confess our sins, he is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. 7 You cannot drink the
cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils:

you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and
of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord
to jealousy? Are we stronger than him? All
things are lawful for me, but not all things are
expedient: all things may be lawful for me, but

not all things edify.
